Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Epaderm is a range of emollient products developed by Mölnlycke Health Care, specifically formulated for the management of dry skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. The Epaderm Cream formulation contains 25% (w/w) paraffin and 5% (w/w) glycerine, acting as both a moisturizer and a skin cleanser. It works by providing an occlusive paraffin barrier that retains moisture in the skin while protecting it from external irritants, complemented by glycerine which acts as a humectant to attract and bind water within the stratum corneum. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in improving skin hydration, softness, and reducing pruritus across various age groups, including infants. In some jurisdictions, Epaderm is regulated as a medical device.
