Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**EPAspire** is a novel oral pharmaceutical formulation of highly purified eicosapentaenoic acid free fatty acid (EPA-FFA, 99% purity) delivered in gastro-resistant capsules for optimal pH-dependent absorption in the gut. Developed by KD Pharma Group and SLA Pharma, it modulates inflammation by incorporating into cell membranes to suppress pro-inflammatory mediators like IL-6 and leukotriene B4 while generating pro-resolving mediators that enhance microbial killing and organ protection, without broadly suppressing immune responses. Primarily indicated for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), an orphan disease, it has shown potential in reducing inflammatory cytokine expression relevant to conditions like COVID-19 and ulcerative colitis.[1][2][9]
