Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EPAX 1050TG is a concentrated omega-3 fatty acid preparation in triglyceride form, specifically formulated with a high ratio of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Developed by Epax Norway AS, it contains approximately 50% DHA and 10% EPA. The product was notably used in the OmegAD clinical trial (NCT00211159) sponsored by Karolinska University Hospital to investigate whether high-dose DHA supplementation could slow cognitive decline in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. DHA is a primary structural component of the brain and is thought to support neuronal function, reduce neuroinflammation, and potentially interfere with the formation of amyloid plaques.
