Overview

EphA3 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of the EphA3 (Ephrin type-A receptor 3) gene. EphA3 is a member of the ephrin receptor subfamily of protein-tyrosine kinases and is involved in various oncogenic processes, including cell-cell adhesion, invasion, neo-angiogenesis, and metastasis. Research indicates that EphA3 is overexpressed in radioresistant head and neck cancer cell lines and clinical specimens. By inhibiting EphA3, the siRNA suppresses the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathway, thereby reducing tumor invasiveness and migration while significantly enhancing the sensitivity of cancer cells to radiotherapy. This suggests that EphA3 siRNA could serve as a potent radiosensitizer in the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas.
