EphB2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the EphB2 receptor (Ephrin type-B receptor 2). In the context of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), EphB2 has been identified as a regulator of the proliferation/migration dichotomy. Research conducted at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University demonstrated that silencing EphB2 using siRNA leads to increased tumor cell proliferation but decreased migration and invasion in glioblastoma-derived stem-like neurospheres. This suggests that while EphB2 promotes invasion, it may also act as an anti-proliferative signal, implying that therapeutic targeting of EphB2 might require combination with anti-proliferative agents for optimal efficacy.
