EPI-008 is an allogeneic cell therapy composed of dermal papilla cells, currently in development by Epibiotech (formerly Stemmore) for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Dermal papilla cells are specialized mesenchymal cells located at the base of hair follicles that play a critical role in hair follicle morphogenesis and the regulation of the hair growth cycle. Unlike autologous therapies that require a patient's own tissue, EPI-008 utilizes an allogeneic approach, potentially offering a standardized, off-the-shelf regenerative treatment. The therapy is administered via local injection into the scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles and promote hair regrowth. Epibiotech is developing EPI-008 in partnership with GFC Life Science and Beijing Northland Biotech (Nuosi Lande).
