Overview

EPI-X4-JM-21 (also referred to as JM#21) is a rationally designed peptide derivative of the endogenous CXCR4 antagonist EPI-X4. It acts as an antagonist of the CXC chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4), which is involved in various pathological processes including cancer metastasis, HIV infection, and inflammatory diseases. The drug has been engineered for improved potency and stability compared to its parent compound. Its primary mechanism involves blocking the interaction between CXCR4 and its ligand CXCL12 (SDF-1), thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways associated with cell migration and proliferation. The main indications under investigation include cancer and inflammatory disorders[1].
