Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EpiCeram is a prescription-only, non-steroidal, controlled-release moisturizing skin-barrier emulsion indicated for the treatment of dry skin conditions and to manage and relieve burning and itching associated with various dermatoses, including atopic dermatitis, irritant contact dermatitis, and radiation dermatitis. Its mechanism of action is based on repairing the skin barrier through a unique tri-lipid formulation containing ceramide, cholesterol, and free fatty acids in an optimized 3:1:1 ratio that mimics the natural lipid composition of healthy skin. This formulation helps restore the stratum corneum’s integrity by replenishing essential lipids reduced in patients with eczema or atopic dermatitis. EpiCeram uses a proprietary MultiSal Encapsulation Delivery Technology to gradually deliver these physiological lipids over time for sustained barrier repair. It is steroid-free, fragrance-free, noncomedogenic, paraben-free, and propylene glycol-free[1][2][4][5][6].
