Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EpiCor is a whole food fermentate (postbiotic) derived from the yeast *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*. It is produced through a proprietary fermentation and drying process by Embria Health Sciences, a subsidiary of Cargill. Unlike traditional yeast extracts or purified beta-glucans, EpiCor contains a complex profile of metabolites, including proteins, fibers, polyphenols, vitamins, and amino acids. It is primarily marketed as a dietary supplement for immune support and respiratory health. Clinical research indicates that EpiCor modulates the immune system by increasing secretory IgA levels, enhancing natural killer (NK) cell activity, and supporting a balanced inflammatory response. It is widely used as an ingredient in various health and wellness formulations.
