Epidiferphane is an orally administered nutritional supplement (nutraceutical) composed of three plant-derived bioactive compounds: epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) from green tea, 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) from cruciferous vegetables, and sulforaphane (also from cruciferous vegetables). Developed by researchers at the University of Florida and licensed to iOncologi, it is designed to mitigate the toxic side effects of taxane-based chemotherapy, such as peripheral neuropathy and anemia, in breast cancer patients. The supplement acts through multiple pathways, including the activation of the Nrf2 antioxidant response pathway and modulation of estrogen metabolism, which may protect healthy tissues from chemotherapy-induced oxidative stress and inflammation without compromising anti-tumor efficacy. Preclinical studies in mouse models have demonstrated its ability to reduce neuropathy and anemia, potentially improving the relative dose intensity (RDI) and clinical outcomes for patients undergoing chemotherapy.
