Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Epiduo Forte is a prescription topical medication that combines adapalene 0.3% and benzoyl peroxide 2.5% in a gel formulation. It is FDA-approved for the treatment of acne vulgaris in adults and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older. Adapalene, a retinoid, works by normalizing skin cell turnover, preventing pores from being blocked, and reducing inflammation. Benzoyl peroxide has antibacterial effects against acne-causing bacteria and provides mild drying effects that help remove excess oils and dirt from the skin. The combination of these two active ingredients offers a comprehensive approach to acne treatment, with studies showing significant reduction in both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions over a 12-week period.
