Overview

This is a combination of two agents: - **Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)** is the main polyphenol in green tea, known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. It acts by scavenging reactive oxygen species and modulating signaling pathways involved in inflammation and neuronal survival[6][10]. EGCG has been studied as a neuroprotectant in various neurological diseases. - **Glatiramer acetate** is an immunomodulatory drug approved for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). It consists of synthetic polypeptides that mimic myelin basic protein and modulate immune responses by shifting T-cell populations from pro-inflammatory to anti-inflammatory phenotypes[7][9]. The combination has been investigated primarily for multiple sclerosis. Preclinical studies suggest synergistic effects on neuroprotection and immunomodulation—combining EGCG’s neuroregenerative actions with glatiramer acetate’s immune-modifying properties[1][2]. However, clinical trials have not demonstrated significant additional benefit over standard therapy with glatiramer acetate alone in MS patients[4].
