Overview

Epinastine + olopatadine refers to the combination of two topical antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer drugs, both used in ophthalmic formulations for the prevention and treatment of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. Epinastine acts as a selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist, inhibits histamine release from mast cells, and also has affinity for α1-, α2-, 5-HT2-, and H2-receptors. Olopatadine is a selective histamine H1 antagonist and mast cell stabilizer that blocks the effects of histamine by inhibiting its binding to the H1 receptor, thereby reducing inflammatory mediator release. Both drugs are effective in reducing ocular symptoms such as itching, redness, and swelling due to allergies[3][4][6][7][8]. They are typically administered as eye drops.
