Overview

Epinephrine and norepinephrine are both catecholamines that function as hormones and neurotransmitters in the body. When used in combination, they can have synergistic effects on the cardiovascular system. Both medications increase blood pressure and heart rate, with norepinephrine having stronger vasoconstriction effects and epinephrine having more pronounced cardiac stimulation. This combination is sometimes used in clinical settings for the management of severe hypotension, particularly in septic shock when a single vasopressor is insufficient to maintain adequate blood pressure.
