Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KL-01401 is an epinephrine (adrenaline) formulation developed by Klaria Pharma Holding for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis. It utilizes Klaria's proprietary transmucosal alginate film technology, designed for oromucosal or buccal delivery. This small molecule drug acts as a non-selective adrenergic agonist, targeting alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors to rapidly reverse airway constriction and hypotension associated with severe allergic reactions. The mucoadhesive film is intended as a compact, non-injectable alternative to traditional auto-injectors like the EpiPen, addressing issues such as needle phobia and device bulkiness. The product was initially co-developed with Purdue Pharma (Canada), though Klaria later regained global rights.
