Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Youminsu (epinephrine nasal spray, also known as Neffy) is an intranasal formulation of epinephrine developed by ARS Pharmaceuticals and licensed to Pediatrix Therapeutics and Grand Pharma (China Grand Enterprises) for development and commercialization in Greater China. It is the first needle-free, non-injectable epinephrine product approved for the emergency treatment of Type I allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Epinephrine acts as a non-selective agonist of alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors. By activating these receptors, it induces vasoconstriction (via alpha-1 receptors) to counter vasodilation and hypotension, bronchodilation (via beta-2 receptors) to relieve bronchoconstriction, and reduces mediator release from mast cells and basophils, thereby reversing the life-threatening manifestations of severe allergic reactions.
