Overview

Epirubicin + lobaplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two antineoplastic agents used primarily in the treatment of various cancers. Epirubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that exerts its cytotoxic effects by intercalating into DNA, inhibiting topoisomerase II, and generating free radicals, leading to inhibition of nucleic acid and protein synthesis and ultimately cell death[2]. Lobaplatin is a third-generation platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, thereby interfering with DNA replication and transcription. The combination aims to leverage the complementary mechanisms of action for enhanced antitumor efficacy. This regimen has been investigated as an alternative to cisplatin-based combinations in certain cancer types such as breast cancer, with some studies suggesting comparable or superior efficacy and potentially different toxicity profiles[6].
