Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Episil (SP-03) is a medical device developed for the management and relief of pain associated with oral mucositis, particularly in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It utilizes Camurus AB's patented FluidCrystal topical bioadhesive technology. Formulated as a lipid-based, preservative-free liquid, it adheres to the oral mucosa and, upon contact with saliva, transforms into a protective bioadhesive film. This film acts as a mechanical barrier to protect sensitized and ulcerated oral epithelium, providing rapid pain relief for up to 8 hours. Solasia Pharma acquired the worldwide rights to the product from Camurus AB in 2022.
