Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EpiSpray is a needle-free, transdermal formulation of epinephrine developed by HypoSpray Pharma (formerly Transdermal Delivery Solutions Corp.) for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. The product utilizes a proprietary transdermal delivery platform that applies a liquid spray to intact skin, using Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) carriers to facilitate rapid systemic absorption of the active ingredient. As a non-selective adrenergic agonist, the epinephrine in EpiSpray stimulates alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors to counteract the physiological effects of anaphylaxis, such as vasodilation and bronchoconstriction. The technology is designed as a non-invasive alternative to traditional intramuscular auto-injectors.
