Overview

This is an investigational cell therapy product developed by the Centre Hospitalier National d'Ophtalmologie des Quinze-Vingts in Paris, France, for the treatment of total limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD). The therapy consists of autologous or allogeneic limbal epithelial stem cells cultured on a human amniotic membrane scaffold without the use of feeder cells. It is designed to be transplanted onto the ocular surface to restore the physiological function of the limbal epithelium, which is critical for maintaining corneal health and transparency. The product was evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (TC181) to assess its ability to improve visual function and anatomical conditions of the ocular surface in patients with severe unilateral or bilateral limbal deficiency.
