Epitizide

Epitizide is a benzothiadiazine diuretic, often used in combination with other agents like triamterene. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting the sodium-chloride cotransporter (NCC) located in the distal convoluted tubule of the kidneys. This inhibition reduces the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions, leading to increased urinary excretion of these electrolytes and water, thereby promoting diuresis.
