Epivac is a commercial bee venom (apitoxin) preparation developed in Egypt for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including recalcitrant localized plaque psoriasis. Administered via intradermal injection, Epivac contains a complex mixture of active peptides and enzymes, primarily melittin, apamin, adolapin, and phospholipase A2. These components exert anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory effects. In clinical trials, Epivac has been shown to significantly reduce psoriasis severity (as measured by the Physician Global Assessment and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index) and decrease serum levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha).
