EpiVacCorona is a peptide-based vaccine developed by the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR in Russia for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine contains three chemically synthesized short fragments (peptides) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, each conjugated to a recombinant chimeric carrier protein that includes parts of the viral nucleocapsid protein and bacterial maltose-binding protein. These peptide-protein complexes are adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance immune response. The mechanism of action involves stimulating an immune response against SARS-CoV-2 by presenting key viral epitopes to B-cells, thereby promoting antibody production. Clinical trials have shown that EpiVacCorona induces specific anti-coronavirus antibodies with minimal adverse reactions[1][3][4].
