Overview

Eplerenona Cinfa is a generic pharmaceutical product containing the active ingredient eplerenone, a selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA). It functions by competitively inhibiting the binding of aldosterone to the mineralocorticoid receptor, particularly in the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys. This inhibition prevents the downstream effects of aldosterone, such as sodium retention, potassium excretion, and the promotion of inflammation and fibrosis in cardiovascular tissues. Clinically, eplerenone is used to improve survival in patients with symptomatic heart failure following a recent myocardial infarction and in those with chronic heart failure and reduced ejection fraction. The specific formulation Eplerenona Cinfa has been studied in clinical trials, including research sponsored by the Fundacion Para La Formacion E Investigacion Sanitaria De La Region De Murcia, to evaluate its potential benefits in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy.
