eplerenone + torasemide

**Eplerenone + torasemide** is an oral combination therapy consisting of **eplerenone**, an aldosterone receptor antagonist, and **torasemide (also known as torsemide)**, a loop diuretic. It is primarily indicated for the management of hypertension and edema, especially in settings of heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction, and resistant fluid overload due to pulmonary hypertension, cirrhosis, or chronic kidney disease. Eplerenone antagonizes aldosterone binding to mineralocorticoid receptors in epithelial and nonepithelial tissues (kidney, heart, vessels), leading to increased sodium and water excretion while conserving potassium[2][6]. Torasemide inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending loop of Henle and distal collecting tubule by blocking the Na+/K+/2Cl- cotransport and the chloride-binding site, resulting in potent diuresis and antihypertensive effects[4][8]. The combination is therefore used where single-agent diuretics or antihypertensives are insufficient to control symptoms and fluid overload. The medication is available as oral tablets.
