Overview

Epoetin theta is a **recombinant human erythropoietin** produced in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO-K1) cells using recombinant DNA technology. It is a biologic drug indicated for the treatment of **symptomatic anaemia associated with chronic renal failure in adult patients** and for **symptomatic anaemia in adult cancer patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving chemotherapy**. Epoetin theta acts by stimulating erythropoiesis (red blood cell production) through promoting the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid progenitors in the bone marrow, mimicking the physiological activity of endogenous erythropoietin. It has a comparable safety and efficacy profile to other erythropoietin products and is administered either subcutaneously or intravenously, with dosing tailored to the clinical context[1][2][3][5][7].
