Overview
Eppikajutsuto (also known as Yue-Bi-Jia-Zhu-Tang) is a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine composed of six botanical and mineral ingredients: Ephedra Herb, Gypsum, Atractylodes Rhizome, Jujube, Licorice, and Ginger. It is traditionally used to treat conditions characterized by inflammation, edema, and heat, such as arthritis, nephritic syndrome, and eczema. In recent clinical research, it has been investigated for its potential to mitigate acute adverse reactions, particularly fever, following COVID-19 vaccination. The formula is thought to exert its effects through anti-inflammatory and antipyretic mechanisms, likely involving the modulation of cytokine production (e.g., IL-6, TNF-alpha) and prostaglandin synthesis.
