eprosartan

Eprosartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in various tissues, including vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. This blockade leads to vasodilation, reduced secretion of vasopressin and aldosterone, and ultimately a decrease in blood pressure. Eprosartan does not exhibit partial agonist activity at the AT1 receptor and has a much higher affinity for this receptor compared to AT2 receptors. It is available as an oral tablet and may be used alone or with other antihypertensive agents such as diuretics or calcium channel blockers. In addition to hypertension, it is sometimes used off-label for heart failure and diabetic nephropathy[1][2][3][4][5].
