EPS-978 (also referred to as EDP-978) is an oral, potent, and selective small molecule KIT inhibitor developed by Enanta Pharmaceuticals. It is specifically designed for the treatment of mast cell-mediated diseases, with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) as its primary indication. KIT is a tyrosine kinase receptor essential for the survival, differentiation, and activation of mast cells; its inhibition leads to mast cell depletion and suppresses the release of inflammatory mediators. Preclinical data for EPS-978 show sub-nanomolar potency in vivo and high selectivity for KIT over other kinases, alongside favorable ADME properties. Enanta Pharmaceuticals expects to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application in the first quarter of 2026, with Phase 1 topline data anticipated in late 2026.
