Overview

Epstein-Barr virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes + oncogene-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes is an adoptive cell therapy regimen developed by Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This combination therapy involves the infusion of ex vivo expanded T cells that target both Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) latent proteins (such as EBNA1, LMP1, and LMP2) and cellular oncogenes frequently overexpressed in NPC (such as Survivin and hTERT). By simultaneously targeting viral antigens and tumor-associated oncogenes, the therapy aims to minimize immune escape and enhance the eradication of EBV-positive malignant cells. It is currently being investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials for patients with advanced, recurrent, or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
