Eptadone

Eptadone is a branded oral solution formulation of methadone hydrochloride, a synthetic opioid analgesic and full agonist at the μ-opioid receptor used primarily for maintenance treatment of opioid (including heroin) dependence and for management of severe pain unresponsive to other therapies. It is marketed in multiple oral solution strengths (for example 1 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml and 100 mg per dose) to allow flexible titration in opioid substitution programs, where it suppresses withdrawal symptoms and cravings while providing long-acting opioid effects.[1][5] Methadone acts predominantly at μ-opioid receptors, with additional agonist activity at κ- and δ-opioid receptors and antagonism at N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, as well as inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake, giving it utility in complex pain syndromes and opioid dependence.[1][3] Eptadone products are approved methadone maintenance formulations with established efficacy and safety profiles in opioid addiction treatment and are the subject of observational studies evaluating their effectiveness and tolerability in heroin-addicted patients in maintenance programs.[2][4][6][8]
