EPV-001

EPV-001 is a small molecule drug that acts as an inhibitor of acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase 2 (ACSS2). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of addiction-related disorders, including alcoholism, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and smoking cessation. The drug was initially developed by the University of Pennsylvania and is currently being advanced by EpiVario. Preclinical studies have shown that EPV-001 can reduce craving, maintain abstinence, and prevent relapse in animal models of addiction. Its mechanism involves inhibiting ACSS2, which plays a role in epigenetic regulation linked to memory formation associated with addictive behaviors[1][9].
