Drug intelligence / Profile preview
EQL-988 is a small molecule agonist of the thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) receptor, currently under development by EQUULUS Therapeutics. It is specifically designed as an intranasal formulation to facilitate direct delivery to the central nervous system, bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The drug is being developed for the treatment of suicidality in patients with depression. By activating TRH receptors, EQL-988 aims to modulate neurobiological pathways associated with mood regulation and suicidal ideation. The program is currently in the preclinical stage, with Phase I clinical trials as the next anticipated milestone.
