Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Equine Botulinum Neurotoxin G Immune FAB2 is a mixture of antibody fragments (primarily F(ab')2 and Fab) derived from the plasma of horses immunized with botulinum toxin serotype G. It is used for the treatment of symptomatic or suspected exposure to botulinum neurotoxin type G as part of a heptavalent antitoxin product that covers all seven known serotypes (A-G). The mechanism of action involves binding and neutralizing circulating unbound botulinum toxin molecules before they can enter nerve terminals and exert their toxic effects. This product is administered intravenously in emergency settings for both adult and pediatric patients exposed to any covered serotype[1][2][5][8].
