Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Equiplas** is a USDA-licensed equine plasma product containing a minimum of 1500-1800 mg/dL IgG, primarily used to treat failure of passive transfer (FPT) in neonatal foals and hypoproteinemia in horses of any age. It provides passive immunity by supplementing immunoglobulins, with one 950 mL bag typically increasing a healthy foal's circulating IgG by about 250 mg/dL; the half-life of transfused IgG is approximately 21 days in normal foals and shorter (as low as 8 days) in ill ones. Developed and manufactured by Plasvacc USA from a disease-free donor herd, it is administered intravenously after thawing and is part of a family of plasma products with additional antibodies for specific pathogens.[2][3]
