Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Equiplas-R is a USDA-licensed equine plasma product containing concentrated equine IgG together with high-titer antibodies against Rhodococcus equi, derived from hyperimmunized equine donors and supplied in 950 mL bags for intravenous administration to foals.[1][2][3][4] It is indicated for the treatment of failure of passive transfer (FPT) in equine neonates and as an aid in the management and control of respiratory disease, including foal pneumonia, associated with R. equi in foals less than 6 months of age, with a minimum IgG content of about 2400 mg/dL.[1][2][3][4][5][9] By passively supplying polyclonal IgG and specific anti–R. equi antibodies, the product enhances humoral immunity and opsonization against R. equi, thereby supporting prevention and mitigation of infection while also correcting hypogammaglobulinemia in at-risk or affected foals.[1][2][3]
