Overview

Er-Zhi-Wan is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula traditionally composed of two herbs: *Ligustrum lucidum* (Fructus Ligustri Lucidi) and *Eclipta prostrata* (Herba Ecliptae). It is primarily used to nourish liver and kidney yin. In modern clinical research, it is being evaluated for its potential hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic effects, particularly in the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). It is often studied in combination with other TCM formulas like Shi-Xiao-San or standard therapies like ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA). The formula is thought to modulate bile acid metabolism and reduce oxidative stress in the liver.
