Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eramax Vet is a veterinary fixed-dose combination powder developed by Navana Pharmaceuticals for oral administration in poultry. It contains five active ingredients: erythromycin (a macrolide antibiotic), neomycin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic), sulfadimidine (a sulfonamide antibiotic), trimethoprim (a dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor), and bromhexine (a mucolytic agent). This combination is indicated for the treatment of various respiratory and enteric bacterial conditions in poultry, including chronic respiratory disease (CRD), complicated chronic respiratory disease (CCRD), bronchopneumonia, infectious coryza, colibacillosis, fowl cholera, salmonellosis, diarrhea, enteritis, and staphylococcal infections. Erythromycin and neomycin inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S and 30S ribosomal subunits, respectively. Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim act synergistically to block bacterial folic acid synthesis, while bromhexine acts as a secretolytic expectorant to reduce mucus viscosity and facilitate clearance.
