Overview

eRapa is a proprietary, patented, micro-encapsulated oral formulation of rapamycin (also known as sirolimus), designed to improve the drug's pharmacokinetics by protecting it from rapid degradation in the stomach. Rapamycin is an inhibitor of mTOR (mammalian Target Of Rapamycin), a key protein kinase that regulates cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, and survival. By inhibiting mTOR signaling, eRapa modulates pathways involved in tumorigenesis and genetic diseases characterized by abnormal cell proliferation. The encapsulation technology enhances bioavailability and reduces toxicity compared to standard formulations of rapamycin. eRapa has received FDA Fast Track designation for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and is being investigated for other indications such as cancer prevention and non-muscle invasive bladder cancer[1][2][4][5].
