Overview

ErepoXen is a **polysialylated form of recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO)** developed to treat anemia, particularly in pre-dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease. The addition of polysialic acid extends the half-life of EPO, enabling less frequent dosing (up to once a month), and is intended to reduce immunogenicity and side effects compared to standard erythropoietin-based therapies. Its mechanism of action is **agonism of the erythropoietin receptor**, stimulating erythropoiesis (red blood cell production) in the bone marrow. ErepoXen uses Xenetic Biosciences’ PolyXen® technology and has been developed in collaboration with Serum Institute of India and SynBio. It is currently in Phase 2/3 development for anemia[2][4][5][6][7][8].
