Overview

Eribulin + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of advanced or metastatic cancers, including breast cancer. Eribulin is a non-taxane microtubule dynamics inhibitor that acts by binding to a unique site on tubulin, suppressing microtubule polymerization and sequestering tubulin into nonfunctional aggregates. This leads to G2/M cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis after prolonged mitotic blockage. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to cell death. The combination has been studied for its efficacy in heavily pretreated patients with advanced cancers, showing feasibility and notable response rates[1][2][5][6].
