Overview

Eribulin mesilate is a synthetic analogue of halichondrin B, a macrocyclic compound originally isolated from the marine sponge *Halichondria okadai*. As a non-taxane microtubule dynamics inhibitor, eribulin binds with high affinity to the plus ends of microtubules, inhibiting the growth phase without affecting the shortening phase. This unique mechanism leads to the sequestration of tubulin into non-productive aggregates, causing G2/M cell-cycle arrest and subsequent apoptotic cell death. Developed and manufactured by Shenzhen Mellow Hope Pharm Industrial, this small molecule injectable is approved for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in patients who have previously received at least two chemotherapeutic regimens, and for unresectable or metastatic liposarcoma in patients who have received a prior anthracycline-containing regimen.
