Overview

EOC 202 is a generic formulation of **eribulin mesylate**, a non-taxane microtubule dynamics inhibitor. Developed by **Taizhou EOC Pharma**, it was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in July 2024 as the first generic eribulin mesylate injection in China. The drug is indicated for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who have previously received at least two chemotherapy regimens (including an anthracycline and a taxane). Eribulin is a synthetic analog of halichondrin B, a natural product isolated from the marine sponge *Halichondria okadai*. It exerts its antineoplastic effect by binding to the growing (+) ends of microtubules, which inhibits the growth phase of microtubule dynamics without affecting the shortening phase, leading to sequestration of tubulin into non-productive aggregates. This mechanism results in an irreversible mitotic block at the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptotic cell death.
