Erica is a brand name for the pharmaceutical drug Pregabalin. Pregabalin is an anticonvulsant, analgesic, and anxiolytic medication. Its primary mechanism of action involves binding to the alpha2delta subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. This binding modulates the release of several excitatory neurotransmitters, including glutamate, substance-P, norepinephrine, and calcitonin gene-related peptide. It is used to treat various conditions such as neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, pain associated with spinal cord injury, and as an adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults, as well as generalized anxiety disorder.
