Overview

Erisa (PDA10) is a biosimilar of epoetin alfa developed by PanGen Biotech in collaboration with Duopharma Biotech. It is a recombinant human erythropoietin produced in mammalian cell culture using recombinant DNA technology. As an erythropoietin receptor agonist, it stimulates erythropoiesis (red blood cell production) in the bone marrow, mimicking the action of endogenous erythropoietin. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic renal failure and end-stage kidney disease in patients undergoing dialysis. Notably, it is recognized as the world's first halal-certified biosimilar, having received certification from the Korean Muslim Federation. Phase 3 clinical trials demonstrated therapeutic equivalence to the reference products Eprex and Epogen in terms of efficacy and safety.
