Eritex

Eritex is a branded topical dermatological cream formulation of the macrolide antibiotic erythromycin that has been investigated for prophylaxis of acneiform skin rash associated with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor erlotinib (Tarceva) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. As an erythromycin-containing product, its mechanism is presumed to involve inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible organisms on the skin, thereby reducing inflammatory papulopustular lesions and secondary infection that can complicate EGFR inhibitor–induced rash. Eritex has been evaluated alongside other topical agents such as fusidic acid (Verutex) and emollient creams (Fisiogel) in clinical studies of Tarceva-associated rash, but detailed commercial availability, formulation specifics, and broader indications are not well documented in public regulatory databases.[2][3]
