Erjing Pills is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula primarily composed of *Lycium barbarum* (wolfberry) and *Polygonati Rhizoma* (Huangjing). In the context of Chinese medical practice, it is traditionally used to tonify the kidneys and replenish essence (Jing), addressing conditions such as kidney deficiency and insufficient marrow. Modern pharmacological research, including metabolomics and pharmacodynamic studies in rat models, suggests that Erjing Pills may have therapeutic potential in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Its mechanism of action involves the reduction of amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition in the hippocampus, improvement of hippocampal morphology, and modulation of several metabolic pathways, including arachidonic acid, retinol, glycerophospholipid, and caffeine metabolism.
