Overview

ERNA-102 is an allogeneic cell therapy product composed of induced mesenchymal stem cells (iMSCs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), engineered to secrete the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin 10 (IL-10). Developed by Ernexa Therapeutics, this therapy is designed to target inflammation and treat autoimmune diseases, with an initial focus on rheumatoid arthritis. The iMSCs are intended to home specifically to sites of inflammation, where they deliver IL-10 and other anti-inflammatory signals directly to inflammatory macrophages. This action repolarizes macrophages toward an anti-inflammatory state, reduces tissue inflammation, and promotes tissue repair and regeneration. Compared with native MSC therapies, ERNA-102 offers advantages such as clonality for product uniformity, enhanced proliferative capacity, increased immunosuppressive IDO1 expression, decreased immunogenicity, and a longer duration of action in the body[1][2][7][10].
