ERR-PA is a small-molecule inhibitor of Estrogen-Related Receptor α (ERRα). It is being investigated for its potential in treating nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Studies have shown that ERR-PA blocks NAFLD development induced by high-carbohydrate or high-fat diets, diminishes lipid accumulation, and attenuates NASH development in Pten null mice. Its mechanism involves inhibiting ERRα, which is a major transcriptional regulator of lipid biosynthesis and mitochondrial function, and it has been identified to regulate glycerolipid synthesis with glycerophosphate acyltransferase 4 as a novel transcriptional target of ERRα.
