Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Eruca sativa extract R1 is a botanical extract derived from the rocket plant (*Eruca sativa*), specifically investigated for its potential in managing obesity and metabolic disorders. The extract is rich in nitrates and isothiocyanates, which act as precursors for nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), respectively. Preclinical studies indicate that R1 attenuates body weight gain, reduces white adipose tissue mass, and decreases adipocyte size. Its molecular mechanism involves the downregulation of Diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 2 (DGAT2) and Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), which are critical regulators of lipid synthesis and adipogenesis. Additionally, the extract has shown efficacy in improving liver steatosis in high-fat diet models, though it does not appear to influence glucose tolerance or blood pressure.
